Father figure of Sri Lankan cricket Mr. Lionel Mendis passed away
Father figure of Sri Lankan cricket and one of the prominent teachers we had in our college, Mr. Lionel Mendis has passed away.
He joined Sri Sumangala College as a Tutorial Staff in 1961 after he passed out from the Government Training College, Maharagama. In addition to teaching, he coached cricket to pupils and also trained Army Cadets of the college being a commissioned officer of the SriLanka Army volunteer force. Our distinguish old boy Mr. Sunil De Silva appointed as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to South Africa
We would like to congratulate our distinguish old boy Mr. Sunil De Silva for becoming the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to South Africa. As the HC to South Africa, he needs to look after 8 more countries in the region i.e. Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Angola and Botswana. He is the 3rd Vice President of SSCOBA Colombo Branch.
We are so proud of him and wish him all the best in this prestigious appointment.
